Nourish the Blood, Tonify the Qi to Promote Longevity, and Calm and Concentrate the Mind to Regulate the Heart is the first of the Daoyin Yangsheng Gong foundation series from Singing Dragon. Better known to many as the 5 minute exercise and the concentration exercise, Professor Zhang encourages all DYYSG practitioners to use these exercises to prepare themselves for the other routines in the discipline and that they are, in many ways, more important than the longer sequences. This is the first of a series being produced by the International Institute of Daoyin Yangsheng Gong. I hope to include my own review of this book when I have had chance to read it! These are translations of professor Zhang's own writings on these exercises and include a DVD. Published by Singing Dragon; ISBN 978-1-84819-072-6, BIC 2: VXHT1.
Thirteen Movements to Stretch the Body and Make it More Supple, and Guiding and Harmonising Energy to Regulate the Breath is the second in the series. To be published shortly by Singing Dragon; ISBN ISBN: 978-1-84819-071-9, BIC 2: VXHT1.
Chinese Medical Qigong is a weighty tome which is an English translation of the official textbook for medical Qigong used in Chinese universities. By Liu Tianjun et. al; published by Singing Dragon ISBN 978-1-84819-023-8.
There are several other interesting titles in the Singing Dragon catalogue, including English translations of the books on the new 'official' versions of the Ba Duan Jin, Yi Jin Jing, Wu Qin Xi and six healing sounds (with DVDs).
Managing Stress With Qigong by Gordon Faulkner, one of Professor Zhang's close students. This book has some interesting exercises, including seated versions, but also has some good general sections. Published by Singing Dragon, ISBN 978-1-84819-035-1.
Chinese Healing Exercises, the Tradition of Daoyin has a lot of historical background to the practice of Daoyin. By Livia Kohn; published by University of Hawai'i Press; ISBN 978-0-8248-3269-8.
